The past week had been kind of confusing for Gage.

You see, a week ago he met a girl named Christine. Now, usually when Gage met a girl, he thought one of three things, depending on the circumstance. For instance, if the girl was pretty, he thought about how he'd love to see her naked. If she was ugly, he'd think about how to further destroy her self-esteem. And if she was unsettled, he'd think "fuck this" and ignore her.

Christine was pretty and unsettled, but he oddly enough hadn't thought either of the two things previously mentioned about pretty girls and unsettled girls. For what was probably the first time in his life, Gage had actually thought about how much he wanted to get to know her.

And it wasn't that he wasn't attracted to her, either. He'd never felt this way about a girl, or anyone for that matter, before.

Speaking of Christine, that's who Gage was with right now. Walking down Theodore Lane at night. Normally he could've just flown her, but he didn't know how to get to her house, and the only way she knew to get there was on foot, not by sky. Especially in the dark. So they were forced to walk.

"I've never heard of anyone settling as early as you," he commented. Days away from being fifteen, and she just settled. Weird. Affectionately he added, "I guess that makes you some kind of freak, huh?"

Christine was like a freak or something. She wasn't even fifteen yet and she settled. She had settled into Deilig, and had been playing around with her shadow all day. She wasn't very good at it yet, but she wasn't bad either, especially for somebody who had just settled. And since she was so excited that she settled, she had rushed to see her knew friend Gage to show him. They had hung out all day, laughing at stupid things and having awkward moments like you find when two people like each other. Too bad Christine was still too immature to understand what she was feeling.

Now it was night time, and Gage was walking her home.

Gage wrote:

"I've never heard of anyone settling as early as you. I guess that makes you some kind of freak, huh?"

Christine laughed and gently punched Gage in the arm, "You're a real funny guy."

She stuck her tongue out at him and laughed again.

It just so happen, that Rene had been out and about on Theodore Lane tonight. Happy, happy, joy, joy! He had been lurking about in the woods, and eventually found two teenagers walking around. He squinted through the darkness, and his heart skipped a beat. That young girl, looked just like his little sister. This must be her younger daughter, his younger niece. He stalked them for a little while, until he heard them talking about how she had settled early. Rene's breathing got a little heavy, his heart started pounding, and his stomach twisted into a knot. She was settled now. He didn't want to make his appearance just yet though, so he continued to follow them in the woods. But he was forgetting to be quiet about it.

Gage smiled. It wasn't a fake or sarcastic smile, but a genuine (albeit somewhat arrogant) smile. He liked being around Christine, and talking to her, and other things that he usually hated doing with girls. Just as he was about to respond with something witty, he heard twigs snapping, leaves ruffling, and what almost sounded like footsteps behind them.

"Hold up," he told Christine, putting his arm out to stop her. He turned around and looked suspiciously into the woods. It was too dark for him to see anything, but since Christine was Deilig she might be able to... "Is there something there?"

Christine squinted through the darkness. She could see a shape, it was definetly big enough to be another clio.

"Somebody is in there," she whispered to Gage.

They spotted him. Rene's covered had been blown, so the best thing to do was, come on out. He came out clapping and chuckling.

"Well done little niece," he said to Christine. "I take it you settled in Deilig then? Nice choice, I would have picked that if didn't admire your father so much when I was younger. My, my, my, fifteen years old? And look at how beautiful you are! I bet your mother was this beautiful when she was your age."

Okay...this guy was definitely a fucking creeper. And he called Christine his "niece." Gage looked to Christine for some sort of explanation, but she looked just as weirded out as he felt. So, maybe the creeper himself could offer an explanation.

"Who the fuck are you?" Gage asked boldly, without a trace of fear or even nervousness.

Christine was weirded out, and maybe even slightly scared. If this guy was her real uncle...you know, that uncle, she might just shit herself. Like poop lady.

Gage wrote:

"Who the fuck are you?"

Rene turned his attention back to the young man who was with his niece. Was this guy her boyfriend? He better not be, he didn't like boys being near his nieces. This boy was very brave, he must not know who Rene was.

"I am that little girls uncle," he said. "Uncle Rene."

He took a bow then said, "I feel so ashamed though, I don't know your name little girl."

Gage looked back and forth between Christine and Rene. Was he really her uncle? Even if he was, he still looked and talked like a creep. And why would he not know her name if they were related? "Okay then..." he said slowly, raising an eyebrow. To Christine, he asked, "This guy really your uncle?"

All the feeling drained from Christine's body. Okay, she was scared now. She nodded timidly at Gage's question. This was the same uncle who kidnapped her sister a couple months ago, the same crazy uncle.

She wasn't sure if she should tell him her name, what should she do?

Rene grew impatient, he wanted her name. He held out his hand and took control of Christine's body. She screamed at that strange feeling, and he made her walk to him.

He took her face into his hands and asked all creepy and angry-like, "What is your name little girl?"

Christine whimpered and told him her name.

A feeling like no other washed over Gage. He didn't know why Christine had just walked right up to this supposed uncle guy, but he didn't care. All he cared about was that this creep was scaring her, touching her and creeping all over her, and it made Gage angrier than he had ever felt in his entire life.

With a yell of rage he shot a blast of wind at 'Uncle Rene' and managed to knock him off his feet. Thinking he had to be knocked out (cuz any normal clio would be), he flew to Christine's side.

"You okay?" he asked her, oblivious to the fact that Rene was undoubtedly still conscious and probably planning to kill him now.

Christine still couldn't move, even after Rene was knocked off his feet. He wasn't controlling her anymore, but she was just so scared.

"Gage," she squeaked. "We have to get out of here."

Yes indeed, they did need to get out of there. Rene was really, really angry now. First this kid goes near his niece, then he disrespects Rene like that? He will pay. Like what they do in action films, Rene did that jumping up from the floor thing, getting back on his feet.

"You're going to regret what you just did boy!" he screamed at Gage.

Taking water from the trees, and turning it into a bunch of icicles, he blasted them at Gage. (But of course they wont kill him because we don't want Gage to die!)

"We have to get out of here."

Gage still wasn't entirely worried. "Don't be scared, Christy, the guy's totally--" He was going to say "out cold" or something to that effect, when suddenly...

Quote :

"You're going to regret what you just did boy!"

Okay...maybe he wasn't out cold. Still not a cause for concern, as Gage was skilled at Eilemaidening, so he just created a gust of wind that deflected all the icicles.

Gage was thoroughly unimpressed with Rene's attack. "Yawn," he said. "We're gonna go ahead and leave now, old man." He wrapped his arm around Christine's waist and got ready to fly off.

Christine really didn't like how Gage was talking to her uncle, it was just making him more angry.

Rene was just getting more angry. He thought this kid would be an easy kill, but he was wrong.

"You're better than I thought you'd be," he told him, slightly impressed. "But nobody can fight this."

That's when he took control of Gage's body.

As if you needed telling, suddenly Gage couldn't move. He could still control the air, create enough wind to fly, but something was holding him firmly in place. He couldn't even move his arms or legs. What the fuck?

Even worse, that meant he couldn't get Christine out of here. Wait, did he just think 'even worse'? Was Gage actually caring about someone else more than himself? Apparently so.

"I--can't--move," he said in a strained voice, trying to move. "Christy, you need to get out of here. Just run."

But Christine didn't want to run. Normally she probably would have, but she didn't want to leave Gage with her uncle, for reasons she just didn't understand yet, she had to stay with Gage. Even though she couldn't do anything with her Eilemaiden because it was dark, she had to do something.

"Stop it," she managed to actually yell. "Just leave us alone!"

Rene glared at Christine, she needed to learn her place. Then he noticed her eyes, those same scared eyes his sister used on him so long ago, when he almost killed Roburt. He couldn't look at her anymore, he had to look away. He turned his attention back on Gage.

"What could we do with you young man?" he asked. "Maybe I could make you bend and twist, until your bones crack."

Why the fuck wasn't she running? He could buy her time to get away, god fucking dammit! Why was she suddenly being so stupid?

"I said, run away," he growled in a low enough voice that Rene wouldn't hear. "While you still fucking can."

"See if I care," Gage replied confidently, attempting to get Rene distracted so that Christine could run.

What was he doing? he suddenly wondered. Risking his life for some girl? It just wasn't like him. Any other clio; Gage would've flown off and left them to fend for themselves against Rene. In fact a part of him was screaming to forget about Christine and save himself. But he just couldn't do that. The urge to save her was even more impossible to fight against than whatever was keeping him from moving.

But Christine is not gonna run, duh! She thought of a million ways to stop her uncle from hurting Gage, and all she could think of was attacking him head on. Oh god Christine you're so stupid. She bent down, picked up a good sized rock from the road and attacked Rene, managing to hit him in the face with the rock.

Being hit in the face with a rock surprised Rene and he bit clear through his tongue, he also lost control over Gages body. He spit out blood then turned angerly towards Christine.

"You stupid child," he growled. "How dare you hurt your uncle!"

Ignoring Gage, he stared to creep on Christine.

Now that Gage could move again, he wasn't just gonna stand there while Rene creeped on Christine.

He swiftly punched Rene in the face as hard as clioly possible, nearly breaking his hand in the process, but hey, it was worth it.
